Since iMessage supports everything but Facebook, and this supports everything but iMessage it’s a bit annoying to have to use two chat clients, but this one is pretty nice to use. It sort of looks better than it works though. The application isn’t quick in terms of being able to quickly find or navigate between chats, and my big annoyance is that the accounts frequently disconnect and I have to click on each of them to reconnect dozens of times in a day. Over all pretty good though.

I very much like this app. It’s got no needless and terrible features and seems to be designed by a real expert. Starts insanely fast and almost never crashes. Recommended for all Gtalk users.

Paying $10, I was expecting more than what Apple’s messaging app offers. What I am looking for is Hangouts conversations sync from my mobile devices! Ex.: I write something to a friend from my phone, I want to see it on Flamingo. Tell me if it’s possible! I also want to see if the person saw the message.

Crashes a lot for me (on Mavericks) and feels like betaware. Once all the bugs are flattened this app would definitely get five stars

No support for group chat. This is sadly a big waste of money.

I’ve been a Flamingo user since 1.0, and I can finally say that this app is solid enough to use on a daily basis. It looks great, and its unique featureset provides more than just mere novelties; for example integration with Twitter for pasting tweet URLs is super handy. Flamingo’s only shortcomings at this point are completely due to a lack of API support from Facebook and Google. It would be great to have chat history syncing and also group messaging, but unfortunately FB and Google prevent this from being possible. I look forward to future updates to this app and recommend it to anyone looking for a modern and carefully crafted instant messaging client.

I picked this up as a I dont want to run Chrome all the time on my machines. Although Google Hangouts (text chat) is supported, it sadly has a great deal of problems. From my understanding most of these are due to the way Google has surprisingly locked in certain functionality to only their official offerings. Some examples: Hangouts disconnects intermittently and requires a re-login (which can sometimes mean having to enter an application specific password again!) Restarting Flamingo reconnects without having to re-enter credentials. (good and bad?) Hangouts disconnects, then reconnects automatically after a short time. This happens often, and the main issue is that you can miss conversations as this can happen while the app is offscreen. (Due to the next point) There is no offline history sync like there is in official apps. If you are not logged in via Flamingo, and someone messages you, the only way to see that is to go to google+ Group chat is not supported. - All in all this makes for a very stressful user experience. Alas, there doesn’t appear to be a functional alternative outside of running Chrome, at least not on mac. I hope that eventually some of these problems are addressed by Google or Flamingo developers.

This would be a better review if it was free. Save yourself $10 and just use Apple’s Messages app or install the chrome hangouts plugin. Messages does most of what this app claims to do and more since you also get your iCloud conversations. The extras that this app CAN do are not worth $10. Not even close.

Facebook is advertised to work, and it doesn’t. Fix that.

This is a great alternative to apps like Pidgeon and Adium. But the popularity of desktop messaging services is down. SMS, iMessage, Twitter, Snapchat, Line and other mobile services have taken over. Slack and HipChat are big in business. And Facebook has dropped XMPP support, meaning no third-party apps, at least not without using an API or something. The app needs to step outside the list of traditional services and protocols and get compatability with modern chat apps. Hopefully the API’s are available or become available.

Why does it disconnect so often? I just wanted a nice simple application that didn’t require running Chrome so that I could chat w/ my wife during the workday. Sadly, it disconnects so much that it’s hard to have a reliable conversation. As another view mentioned, if I restart the applications it is able to re-connect just fine. So clearly it’s a bug w/ the application and it doesn’t really need to re-connect.

i bought this app just to find out that the Facebook messaging system is tooken down.. literally the only reason i got the app, now the app is useless, i rated this app (****) just because it wouldve been an awesome app for messaging on Facebook.. still, nice app in general

I tried to sign in to facebook, but it doesn’t work. Facebook認証がうまく動いていないみたいです。 Facebook says, “アプリが設定されていません: This app is still in development mode, and you dont have access to it. Switch to a registered test user or ask an app admin for permissions.”. It seems like still Facebook API settings is in development mode. Facebookによれば、このアプリケーションはまだ開発版になっているとのこと。 I just want to use hangout and it works well, so it fine for me. 私はハングアウトの機能だけ使えればよかったので、とりあえず大丈夫でした。 Be careful if you want to use this app for Facebook message. for such a small thing it uses too much memory (150mb for 2 accounts in my case). strangely it asked me my google pass again once, when cancelled worked as nothing happened. one last problem is that when you detach a chat window and move it to an other desktop it’s not easily accessible so non-detached useage is recommended. other than the memory problem its a nice app and I would recommend it. yaptigi isin kucuklugune oranla cok fazla ram kullaniyor (2 hesap icin 150mb). bir keresinde google sifremi tekrar sordu ve tam kabul de edemedi, iptal edincede normal calismaya devam etti, garip bi durum oldu yani. bunlarin disinda yapmasi gereken isi basarili bir sekilde yapiyor, tavsiye edebilirim fakat fiyat biraz pahaliydi tabii yaptigi ise gore ben aldigimda.

Hangouts group chat is not exist, it should be!

1.0.7 fixed all of iritating bugs. Now Flamingo is possibly the best IM client in the Mac App Store :) Thank you guys :)

A great replacement for Adium. Nicely designed, works well on Retina Macbooks. Keep up the good work ❤︎

That’s some freaking joke! I bought that app once and they ask me to pay for it again. Lookout for scammers … I see apple supports some money collectors. Good that they relesed only two apps… I never got on that again. Przemek

beautifull, single window, have nice feature like column-conversations (very usefull in fullscreen mode in second display). though have bugs in fullscreen mode with opening and closing conversations. do not waste your money, use iMessages
